The couple rocks have been regarded as a torii (an entrance gate of shrine) for worshiping the Japanese Goddess of the Sun from ancient times.
A great thick, sacred, straw rope connects the hasband rock and the wife rock.
In May to July (especially around the summer solstice), it is possible to see the sunrise from among the couple rocks, and it is crowded with many photographers and worshipers.
A full moon is seen between the couple rocks from autumn to winter, and it is a fantastic taste of view.
On the coast worshiping the couple rock, the shrine pavilions of Futami Okitama Shrine are standing. Why don't you worship the "full desire frog" that wishes will come true if you pour water with your wishes aloud? Please also get a cute amulet of marriage.
The site of "the couple rocks" is a recommended sightseeing place, where many people go around together for visiting Ise Jingu Shrine and for traveling Toba and Shima area.
