The town of Kiwa in Mie Prefecture’s Kumano City was once famous for mining, and its deep history shows that copper has been excavated there for over 1,200 years. An old torokko minecart and engine that was actually used in the mine has been resurrected for tourists to ride.
Take a short, 10-minute trip through the one-kilometer tunnel inside the old mine. Enjoy a retro torokko ride between Hotel Seiryuso and Yunokuchi Onsen.
