In the town of Komono, Mie Prefecture, Mount Gozaisho stands 1,212 meters tall. From mid-October to late November, the mountainside is adorned with stunning autumn foliage, making it one of the premier spots for fall colors in the Tokai region. Take a leisurely hike in Gozaisho Sanjo Park and enjoy the foliage while you walk. On your descent, experience the gradient of trees changing colors based on their elevation by taking the ropeway from the summit. From the mountaintop, you can admire the breathtaking panorama of the foliage transitioning from the summit to the middle slope and then to the hot spring town area (Yunoyama Onsen), where azalea reds mingle with the golden yellows of evergreen oaks.

The peak viewing period for autumn colors in this area is a bit later than other spots, usually around early December each year.

Whether you opt for a scenic drive to the highlands or choose the hiking trail extending from Nishi-Aoyama Station on the Kintetsu line, you’ll encounter attractions such as Shikinosato Park, the remnants of the old Kintetsu Railway tunnel, and the captivating Nunobiki Falls.
